Home of the Portuguese Masters on the European Tour, Oceânico Victoria course is one of the finest golf courses in Europe. Owned and managed by Oceânico Developments, the Victoria course is one of 7-courses in the Oceânico Golf portfolio of courses along the Algarve.Opening in 2004, the Victoria Golf Course Vilamoura, Algarve, is one of the best and most sophisticated golf courses in Portugal. One extraordinary fact concerning Victoria Vilamoura Golf Course is that the Arnold Palmer team masterly created 18 greens with totally different shapes and sizes. This is one of the unique characteristics of the Victoria Golf course, and having played the course before is by no doubt an advantage.
The Oceanico Victoria, which covers some 90 hectares, is the most recent golf course project of Arnold Palmer in Portugal. As one of the best and most sophisticated golf courses in Europe, every care has been taken to ensure the preservation of the wetlands and the typical vegetation of carob, olive and almond trees. Several lakes, occupying 13 hectares, provide mirrors of water and strategic reservoirs for irrigation.
The course features 5 or 6 tees per hole; wide, undulating fairways; extensive water hazards and cleverly positioned bunkers. In addition there is an exceptional driving range and a putting green of some 2,500m².
Another major attraction of Oceanico Victoria, is formed by an exceptional driving range and by an enormous putting green area of around 2500 m2.
The course is unforgettable experience for all who play there, and is a major venue for top international tournaments which most recently hosted the Portugal Masters 2007-2014 and was host to the PGA World Cup 2005. Right on the doorstep is the beautiful Vilamoura marina which is the main centre of activity with a huge range of restaurants, bars and shops.
Boasting a 1,000-berth marina, Vilamoura attracts the wealthy, yachtsmen, golfers, celebrities and in fact, anyone who just fancies enjoying a rather nice place in the sun! During the day, although it can get quite busy, it’s really a very peaceful area to stroll around. It gets more lively at night, with everyone coming to eat and try out some of the bars, but is still a very relaxed resort.
Vilamoura has two beautiful beaches, Praia da Marina (‘Vilamoura Beach’), to the east of the marina and Praia da Falésia to the west. If you enjoy a walk, Praia da Falésia runs all the way to Olhos d’ Àgua or stroll along Praia da Marina into Quarteira.
The resort is also home to Vilamoura Casino, which has regular evening entertainment, such as shows and dances, as well as the gaming rooms.
Vilamoura is a great place to stay whether you just want to enjoy the beaches, play a few rounds of golf, have a game or two of tennis, try something more adventurous like parasailing or maybe take a ‘champagne cruise’ to celebrate a special occasion!
Nowhere in the Algarve is very far away so you can explore as much or as little as you want; Vilamoura holidays certainly offer everything you could want from a perfect holiday, without venturing any further afield.
